I have refused to pay sublet fees, and now face debt recovery

Dear Campaign against retirement leasehold exploitation,

I am a leaseholder of a Peverel-managed flat in Sussex and incurred sublet fees with a new tenant in June 2012.

Having previously paid £626 for a sublet fee for the previous tenant, I refused to pay them any more and emailed them about this in August 2012 and they did not reply.

Suddenly they have written to me, after ignoring me for 18 months, demanding payment of £121 pounds in 14 days or they will refer it to their debt recovery department.

Do you have any thoughts on my response to them after all this time and what amount should I offer to settle this?

Big managing agents, which manage flats, are big because they have got business from developers or large-scale freehold owing companies.

Such as Proxima or Fairhold, which are administered through Estates and Management and are ultimately controlled by a trust in the British Virgin Islands.

Doubtless they are very obliging.
